The Greek Drachma was the currency of Greece from 1832 until 2002, when it was replaced by the Euro. In Ancient Greece, ‘drachma’ was the name of a standard weight and silver coin. The origin lies in the Greek word ‘dragma’, meaning ‘handful’, pointing to a handful of ‘obols’, equal to one-sixth of a drachma.
Greek Drachmae are now obsolete. At Leftover Currency we specialize in the exchange of obsolete currencies, like the Greek Drachma. Our online exchange service is quick, easy, secure and free of charge. We exchange both Greek Drachma banknotes, as well as Greek Drachma coins.
